Linux Co-op "Connecting to online services," forever. Try Steam in Offline Mode

Hey folks! I registered to add this, I didn't find a similar fix in a lot of searching, but maybe I just missed someone's post. Sorry if this is a repeat!

Running Stardew Valley from Steam, my bf was having trouble connecting to a co-op farm he and his friend were playing on for a while. Whenever he clicked "co-op" mode, a window saying "connecting to online services .. " would open and just kinda stay there for a long time.

We tried a bunch of things to fix it; re-downloading Stardew, changing Proton versions (from Experimental to 7.0-6), restarting the computer, and some other things, too.

Nothing worked until I changed Steam to go into "Offline Mode" by clicking the Steam menu icon (top left of the main Steam window), and then clicking "Go Offline." We haven't tried to have his friend long on (my bf is hosting), but I'm able to go to the farm and run around!

You may need to give it a second, or run the game, close it, and run again (sometimes it still has trouble, but it does eventually get there).

Also, this fix seems to work regardless of the Proton version, I tried it in Experimental and in 7.0-6, and it works just as well in either.

I see that lots of folks have had this issue, and I hope that this helps!

Cheers,

This does sound like a repeat; do you happen to be running on Arch Linux and/or update GLIBC recently?

My bad! And yes, I'm running on Manjaro and the pacman log file shows I updated GLIBC (from 2.40 to 2.41) last Tuesday. Thanks for the heads up, I found an earlier thread on this issue, here.

Have you fixed it yet, otherwise please do execstack -c with the Galaxy dll's.
Hey! Yes, we ended up fixing the problem, but I don't quite remember what ended up working. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep it in mind if anything comes up again!
